The Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 is heading to Goodwood

Goodwood Members’ Meeting will host public debut of £1.4m car you can't buy, even if you had the money

Published: 15 Mar 2022

The Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 - the slightly more physics-compliant brother to the GMA T.50 - will make its first public appearance at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting on 9 April.

You can put your cheque books and lottery winnings away though: all 100 examples of the T.33 have already been sold, so all us mere mortals can do now is merely gawp longingly from afar.

Want to soothe the pain with a reminder of the T.33’s headline numbers? A Cosworth 3.9-litre V12 revving to 12,000 rpm produces 650bhp, with weight coming in at less than 1,100kg thanks to a carbon fibre monocoque. We’ve made it worse, haven’t we?

The T.33 will be revealed by Gordon Murray himself and the Duke of Richmond at 9am sharp, while a prototype version of the T.50 will take to the track over the weekend.

Visitors will also get to see the T.33 alongside a roster of cars said to have influenced its design. Think Porsche 904, Lamborghini Miura, Lotus Elite and a few others.

“The team at Gordon Murray Automotive is extremely proud of our British company and as with the T.50, the T.33 supply chain is predominantly UK sourced,” said Murray. “We take immense pride in presenting our family of cars at a British venue and where better than Goodwood?

“As a GRRC member and an ardent fan of all things Goodwood, I look forward to the upcoming 79th Members’ Meeting and the global public debut of our T.33 supercar coupe.”

The Duke of Richmond agreed, adding: “We’re thrilled that Gordon Murray Automotive will be returning to the Members’ Meeting for a second time and bringing such a special car to be seen in-person for the first time. Members’ Meeting provides the perfect setting for the launch - it’s intimate on the ground, but has a broad, international reach, meaning all eyes will be on the T.33 throughout the weekend.”

In the meantime, find out all there is to know about Gordon Murray’s T.33 from the man himself in this no-panel-left-undisturbed walkaround video. And then take a look at Murray’s unbelievable private car collection.
