McMurtry Spéirling vs Porsche 911 GT3 RS: here's a full set of acceleration numbers
Wanna know just *how* fast McMurtry's supernatural Spéirling is? We pitted it against another Really Fast Car - the GT3 RS - for context
When I drove the GMA T.50 last year, it gave me the answer to the question I get asked more than any other: “what’s the best car you’ve ever driven?”
Suddenly I had an answer. Now I have another, this time for the “what’s the fastest car you’ve ever driven?” query. It’s the McMurtry Spéirling, by a country mile.
So I thought you’d like to see just how fast it is. Below is a full table of the car's acceleration and for comparison we’ve lined it up against Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS, a car that develops up to 860kg of conventional downforce at 186mph. The Spéirling, let’s not forget, develops 2,000kg at 0mph.
With 1,000bhp working on a little over 1,000kg, plus total traction and very little drag due to the tiny hole in the air it penetrates, it is easily the fastest car we’ve ever tested. Even quicker low down than Bloodhound SSC. Although that got a bit ridiculous when the numbers got big.
We’ll leave you to pick apart the figures and pull interesting stats from them, but here’s one of my favourites: it takes less than a second to go from 30-70mph. Think on that next time you scoot away from a village.
*The original Spéirling’s top speed is limited to 148mph. It had been sat at 148mph for 2.5secs before it went past the ¼ mile mark
