Saleen is building a hydrogen-powered, twin-turbo V6 road car
It’s based on the recently-revealed Foenix H2 racer from Solution F, and will be ready for some demo runs by the end of 2024
Despite predominantly being known as an aftermarket tuning brand, Saleen has, on occasion, released its own models - most notably the mad-as-you-like S7. And now, it’s confirmed that a hydrogen-powered, twin-turbo V6 road car is in the works as its next big venture.
It’ll be built in partnership with French duo Motul and Solution F, with the latter providing the powertrain and claiming that the finished product will be based loosely on its recently revealed Foenix H2 track car.
For some perspective, the H2’s supercharged V8 puts out around 621bhp and 516lb ft of torque… to a body that weighs about as much as an actual bottle of Motul engine oil. Motul itself has been involved in performance and racing car solutions for a considerable amount of time now, so the pairing represents a fairly good consortium for Saleen to be working with.
It’s also been confirmed that a prototype of the hydrogen Saleen road car will be doing some demonstration runs toward the end of this year in North America. Likely somewhere close to Saleen’s headquarters in Corona, California.
