Grrr, the Fiat Grizzly looks like… a big fat softie

Because grizzlies are bigger bears than pandas. Geddit?

Fiat has finally unveiled its take on the Vauxhall Frontera and Citroen C3 Aircross, and it will be called… the Grizzly. Yep, it’s sticking with the bear theme.

Grande Panda marked the return of Fiat to affordable family movers,” said boss Olivier Francois. “With Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback, we’re completing this lineup with two vehicles designed around different needs, different lifestyles, but sharing the same idea: smart, accessible and rooted in Fiat’s design DNA. Together, they bring Fiat back at the heart of the family mobility market with a complete and coherent line-up.”

The single picture up above is all we’ve got to go on right now, but the Grizzly’s light signature does bare some resemblance to the cuter Grande Panda’s. Otherwise it’s a fairly generic mid-size crossover in its design, although we like the chunky arches. Oh, and much like its smaller sibling, we’ll also see petrol and all-electric powertrains.

The Grizzly Fastback is the obligatory coupe-ified version, and Fiat has said that both will be just under 4.5 metres long, so it should be slightly larger than its Stellantis siblings. We’re also promised “a best-in-class boot capacity” and “refined interiors”.

Deliveries will kick off in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the second half of this year, with Latin America set to follow soon after.
