Ford Bronco DR: mastering a 400bhp, $295k off-roader
Not just a Bronco with fancy stripes - this Desert Racer is a fully-fledged, competition monster...
It’s not a road car, but where this thing wants to go, you don’t need… roads. It's the Ford Bronco DR: a purpose-built off-road racer that Ford describes as a “first-of-its-kind” limited production, Baja 1000 race ready SUV.
That’s right, the DR stands for Desert Racer, but It’s not just a Bronco with some stripes on it. There's a full Multimatic FIA-optimised roll cage with integrated tubes and fibreglass body panels. There’s no air-con, glass, nor any other “interior amenities”. There is however, a 5.0-litre Ford Coyote V8 putting out 'over' 400bhp.
So, we asked Ford if we could insert Jethro Bovingdon into the driving seat to see if he could master this competition-ready off-road racer...
