New mag out now: the 40 greatest cars from 400 issues of TG magazine
It’s the 400th issue of Top Gear mag! We’re celebrating with retro road trips and plenty of hypercars
Much like the great Brian Lara against England in 2004, Top Gear magazine is now 400 not out! And yes, we have been watching lots of cricket this summer…
That’s not to say we haven’t been hard at work. Heck, in this celebratory 400th issue there’s a whole feast of automotive excellence for you to enjoy. For example, to mark our latest milestone, we picked four TG icons that each define 100 issues of the magazine. We then embarked on four 100-mile roadtrips to all four corners of the UK. That meant 400 miles of driving down memory lane. Oh, and we named the 40 greatest cars to have featured in our 400 issues. Not as easy as it sounds.
We’ve also been in the Alps to celebrate the 200th birthday of the iconic Stelvio Pass. We could have wished it many happy returns with a cake and some candles, but this is Top Gear – we turned up in a 25th anniversary Countach and an iridescent Revuelto to meet Hans-Joachim Stuck as he piloted a V16-engined Auto Union Type C up the famous mountain road.
Then there’s our drive on road and track of the 815bhp Ford Mustang GTD, and we got the big bosses of Bugatti, Koenigsegg and Singer down to Dunsfold for the ultimate hypercar/restomod networking event. LinkedIn, eat your heart out. Oh, and if you’re into restomods that aren’t Porsches, we’ve also driven Eccentrica’s reborn Diablo and HWA’s V6-engined tribute to the Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II.
For all of this and so much more (including a free pull-out poster to stick on your wall) grab a copy of the new issue and have it delivered direct to your door by clicking these words. Or if you want even more from Top Gear magazine you can click here to start a subscription, meaning you’ll get six issues for just £23.50. What a bargain.
