Ford is launching two more limited-run Rangers
The Stormtrak and Wolftrak get great names and completely different target markets
The Ranger is currently Europe’s best-selling pick-up, and Ford is churning out yet more special editions in an attempt to retain that crown. Welcome, girls and boys, to the Ranger Stormtrak and the Ranger Wolftrak. Great names, right?
Let’s start with the Stormtrak (that’s the red one, for ease of identification). Based on the pre-existing Wildtrak, it deploys the range topping 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine and sends 210bhp and 369lb ft of torque to all four wheels through a ten-speed automatic gearbox. It’s designed to be ever so slightly more luxurious than standard Rangers, so gets LED headlights, red grille inserts and the leather seats from the Raptor. Also inside are Tinted Graphite interior surfaces and red stitching throughout, whilst a new load bed shutter is standard fit. Oh, and there’s a few decals and plenty of badging so you’ll never forget the Stormtrak name.
The Wolftrak is much more off-road biased. It uses a 168bhp version of the 2.0 litre diesel engine that can be combined with either a six-speed manual or ten-speed auto. Extras here include an electronically locking rear differential, all-terrain tyres, an exclusive sports bar and its grey paint and matte black colour scheme. There's underbody protection and all-weather floor mats on the inside. Rugged.
The two special editions will apparently be built in limited numbers and both will be on sale later this year. Like them?
