Ford will give American Bronco and Ranger Raptor drivers more power for $825
Ford engineers develop a remap for the 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6, unlocking more power and torque
Ford is now offering 2024 Ranger Raptor and 2023 and 2024 Bronco Raptor owners in the US the chance to unlock more power from their performance trucks.
A new software calibration for the twin-turbo 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 means the Ranger Raptor and Bronco Raptor now both make 449bhp and 536lb ft of torque. Previously the Ranger was producing 399bhp and 430lb ft, while the Bronco got 412bhp and 440lb ft. Decent increases, then.
The software update can be ordered online and installed by local dealers. We’re told that it’ll improve throttle response and optimise shifts. It’ll also be covered by Ford’s three-year, 36,000-mile parts warranty.
It will come at a cost, though. That cost actually being a reasonable sounding $825. Oh, and anyone who attends the Raptor Rally in Utah in September will get a 20 per cent off coupon code to save a bit of cash on their extra power.
