Houston, we have a… RAM? Check out these Lunar-themed special edition pick-ups

They’ll be available from October, featuring funkier exterior paint, new light signatures and 33in tyres

Published: 21 Aug 2024

In today’s digest of strange special editions absolutely no one asked for, RAM has created two ‘Lunar-themed’ variations of its popular pick-up: one based on the ‘Power Wagon’ and the other the ‘Rebel Heavy Duty’. Apparently, their exterior designs ‘align’ with the colours found on the surface of the moon. So they’re… grey?

Let’s start with what changes the two share, which includes that ceramic paint coat and gloss black lunar vinyls. There’s also some new body-colour badges, fancier lights at both ends and 33in tyres at each corner. No mention if any of this lot gets affected by a lunar eclipse, mind.

Inside, the lunar pack brings Surf Blue stitching upon black leather upholstery, while twill film accents sit across the door, instrument cluster and centre console. You’ll also get a bespoke metal badge with the corresponding car model’s name lettered in chrome along said console. Nice touch, that.

Now for the differences: the Power Wagon will get 17in alloys, a lift kit and a 6.4-litre Hemi V8. There’s also locking differentials at both axles and a sway bar disconnect, which allows the beefy suspension to complete its exercises a bit easier. The all important numbers sit at 404bhp, 426lb ft and a tow capacity of 4.8 tonnes.

Mighty. But not quite as mighty as the Rebel Heavy Duty, which bumps the same metric up to a frankly ridiculous 7.6 tonnes. That’s thanks to a bigger 6.7-litre Cummins turbo-diesel engine, which sacrifices a bit of power (now 365bhp) for a lot more torque (850lb ft). It’s probably powerful enough to tow and steal the moon itself if you so wished.

Both cars will be available for order from October, with the Power Wagon Lunar starting at $75,205 and the Rebel Heavy Duty Lunar costing another $10,000 on top.
