The sharp new 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV will offer up to 492 miles of range
Or 771bhp and 785lb ft of torque in the less efficient but punchier trim grades
Three things are guaranteed in life: death, taxes and the Chevrolet Silverado selling like lemonade on a hot summer’s day. Here’s the all-new electrified version for 2025, which brings with it sharper looks, bigger numbers and three trim levels: WT, LT and the range-topping RST.
The powertrain is a dual-motor set-up (one per axle) for a go-anywhere four-wheel drive system. Those big numbers we mentioned? That’ll be between 517 and 771bhp, 580 and 785lb ft of torque, a payload of 1,800lbs and enough towing capacity to drag the Black Pearl back from wherever Jack Sparrow’s binned it now.
The range will also stagger between 390 and 492 miles - though the most basic WT model’s output is yet to be revealed, and will likely undercut these. As for recharge times, Chevrolet says a 350 kW DC public charge should yield 100 miles within the first 10 minutes. Barely enough time to gleefully tuck into a couple of muffins.
That’s a shame because it’s a rather handsome brute to sit and stare at. Up front sits a full-length light bar with independent fog light fixtures and an illuminated Chevrolet badge. The grille is mostly restrained, while the lower section of the bumper has received a minor rework. Customers will also get a choice of 18-24in aluminium alloys to wrap around those huge off-road tyres.
Details of the cabin remain scarce for now, but we do know it gets a 17in infotainment and 11in diagonal driver display. Customers can also spec in the new Super Cruise hands-free advanced driver system, which Chevy reckons will allow hands-free trailering for as much as 750,000 miles of U.S. and Canadian roads by the end of next year. Nifty, that.
Prices for the new Silverado EV start at $57,095 for a base WT model and stretch to $97,895 for a fully loaded RST. The $7,500 federal tax credit can also be claimed by eligible customers and spent on many, many muffins instead.
