Here are 10 stone-cold classics we found this week for under £35,000
E-Type or Elan? G-Wagen or Mondial? Or perhaps you’d rather Scooby-Doo’s van… wait, what?

Porsche 928 GTS
Kicking off this week’s roundup is a Porsche 928 in ‘GTS’ trim for a fiver below budget. That means a buttery-smooth 5.4-litre water-cooled V8 sending 345bhp to the rear wheels. Properly neat example too, with a black over grey colour palette to complement that timeless shape.

The first-gen Elan: small in stature, big in price. This is an anomaly, though, because it comes with a gloss yellow finish, a Colin Chapman-signed steering wheel and a full mechanical restoration… for £15k. Well, it's £15k at the time of writing. There are still a couple of days to run on the bidding, so expect it to go for a bit more.
Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W460)
Quite simply a safari-spec, drop-top, classic G-Wag that’s had a single owner throughout its 38-year life. Astonishingly, the odometer reads just 5,000 miles. It’s brand new for crying out loud. That raised body also sits on modern AMG alloys, and comes with a fresh canvas roof for when the weather gets grey.

Your most realistic chance of owning a vintage 2+2 Fezza in this price bracket. Still, the much-maligned Mondial has some interesting styling cues: pop-up headlights, slashes along the body and thick five-spoke alloys. Power is provided by a 3.0-litre V8, with key outputs of 210bhp, 180lb ft and 0-62mph in around 8.2s.
Bugatti Type 35
It’s a throwback Bugatti! Sort of! Because this ‘Type 35’ has the underpinnings from a ‘78 Volkswagen Beetle, including the 1.6-litre four-pot and four-speed manual transmission. You’re paying for what’s above it: chrome wire wheels, fibreglass body panels, circular headlamps and the gorgeous blue paint. Seems a steal for £25k.
Porsche 914
The 914 may not have the reputation of some of its other Stuttgart-bred brethren, like the 911 or the 928, but it’s a charming little roadster in its own right. Here’s one that sits low to the ground and features metallic paintwork. The highest bid at the time of writing is under £20k…
BMW Z1
The world has no shortage of classic Bimmers, and the Z1 is arguably the most left-field of the lot. Featuring unique vertically sliding doors, this was the first BMW-badged car to use a multi-link rear suspension. It also gets a 2.5-litre straight-six and five-speed manual gearbox, with power rated at 168bhp. Should be plenty to feel the wind in your armpits.

A V12 engine, wire wheels and that body. What more needs to be said? Here’s a Series 3 that’s currently going for just over £30k.
Alfa Romeo Spider (S2)
A solid alternative to the Jag. It’s not often you see a kamm tail version, nor one that’s finished in dark blue. This example ticks both boxes and would set you back just under £22k. If you’d rather not drive it and preserve those stunning looks for as long as possible, few cars would make a better front lawn ornament.

At this link sits one of the very best wildcard options we’ve had in recent times, because it’s a replica of the Mystery Machine from the Scooby-Doo franchise. Based on a Dodge Ram V8 van, the interior is now the perfect relaxation zone for amateur detectives and Great Danes alike, while the exterior will bring many, many smiles to pedestrians who know. The best part? It’s up for less than five grand.
