Koenigsegg Jesko Attack sets new lap record at Laguna Seca: watch it here
Jesko’s first holiday to California track results in a new production car record
Of course it’d set a new lap record. Koenigsegg’s wild Jesko Attack has just blitzed around Laguna Seca in 1m 24.86s, setting a new record for homologated production cars.
That beats the Czinger 21C’s time of 1m 25.44s set back in 2021, which itself blitzed the McLaren Senna’s Laguna Seca time of 1m 27.62s. Yeesh.
And in the ultimate ‘oh, you guys found it hard, huh?’ flex, boss Christian von Koenigsegg noted how test driver Markus Lundh wasn’t entirely familiar with the famous Californian track.
“Markus has never driven on this track, ever,” CvK said after the run, “just on the PlayStation a bit. “The car has never been here. Markus has never been here.”
Despite this, Lundh still managed to navigate the 2.2-mile, Corkscrew-laden track just over half a second faster than the American heavyweight managed. The Attack is of course the track-honed version of Koenigsegg’s Jesko, geared more towards smashing out quick laps than smashing top speed records.
So there’s a huge rear wing, 1,000kg of downforce at 171mph, hollow carbon wheels, and a 5.1-litre flat-plane-crank V8 treated to a pair of turbochargers booting out 1,578bhp and 1,106lb ft of torque. Forget 0-62mph – this thing will rev to its 8,500rpm redline in just 0.2s.
Now, fresh from setting a Gotland lap record, watch the Jesko, um, attack Laguna Seca with all fifteen hundred horsepowers. Come on Christian, the Nürburgring is calling…
