Buying
What should I be paying?
We got 32mpg from the 50 TDI powertrain, against an official test cycle claim of 37.7mpg, and with more careful triggering of the narcoleptic gearbox, you’ll easily beat the combined figure in everyday mileage. CO2 emissions on the 19-inch wheels are 153g/km, equating to a £530 tax bill plus the £320 surcharge for buying a car costing in excess of £40,000.
As Vorsprung models add 21-inch wheels which will do the Allroad’s ride no favours at all, we’d stick with the standard Sport model, which starts at £52,985 instead of £69,375. As standard all models get LED matrix headlights, leather seats, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, electric front seats and aluminium roof rails.
