What should I be paying?
The Amalfi kicks off the Ferrari range at £202,459. That’s around £30k more than the Roma cost when it was new, but allow for inflation and the Amalfi is fractionally less expensive than its predecessor, despite gaining power and an improved cabin.
It’s within £3k of the new Porsche 911 Turbo S, and around £30k more than the Aston Martin Vantage or AMG GT63. Competitively priced, considering the Ferrari badge carries more cachet than the Merc, and the Amalfi is quicker than the Aston – if less exciting to listen to.
Standard equipment includes automatic LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ceramic brakes and a reversing camera.
But Ferrari will never build a £202k Amalfi, because the options list is long and terrifying.
Go on then. Give me a flavour of the options.
You’ll want the adaptive magneride suspension because the car is so beautifully judged in its various modes. We can’t imagine anyone will realistically not stump up £3,695 for it. But if you fancy that with the nose-lift system, the cost more than doubles to £7,501. Ouch.
As you’d expect, carbon accessories will cost you big money. A carbon skirt under the door is £5,822. Slathering the rear diffuser in carbon (which is most vulnerable if you get rear-ended) is a cool £7,837. Painted brake calipers? £1,512. Scuderia Ferrari shield badges on the front wings will run you £1,231. A drilled aluminium footrest inside is £560. If you see an Amalfi burbling past, there’s very little chance indeed it left the factory with change from a quarter of a million quid.
And Ferrari is now a paint company with a side hustle building cars. A ‘special colour’ like Verde Costiera here is over £8k, but multi-layer historical colours can set you back between £22,000 and £39,000 if you choose a one-off paint-to-sample shade. The possibilities are endless – which is why these days less than half of new Ferraris are painted red.
What about running costs?
Really? Fuel economy will do well to crack 20mpg, though the tank’s a useful 80 litres in capacity. The range computer reckoned on a touring range of 250 miles.
Like all Ferraris, Amalfis receive a seven-year peace of mind maintenance package undertaken at official Ferrari workshops. You get a service every year of 20,000km/12,500 miles which is transferable between owners.
