GMC Hummer EV SUV review
Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices for the Hummer EV SUV start at $97,200 for the 2X. That gets you two motors, up to 635hp, 9,900lb ft of torque and between 298 to 319 miles of range.
For the 3X, prepare to pay upwards of $105,300 for the tri-motor setup that brings with it 830 to 1,160hp and 11,500lb ft of torque. Both have all-wheel drive as standard, rear-wheel steering and King Crab mode.
Outside of the mechanics, the 2X and 3X kits are about the same. 22-inch wheels are standard, though 18-inch wheels shod in off-road-ready rubber are available when opting for the so-called extreme off-road package that also throws in underbody cameras and locking e-diffs for both axles.
A 14-speaker Bose sound system is also standard, as is the 13.4-inch infotainment screen, filled with all the Google you can eat, air ride suspension and an ‘infinity’ roof with opaque panels.
The limited-run Carbon Fiber Edition adds cool touches to the 3X spec like 22-inch carbon fiber black wheels, a carbon fiber skid plate insert, mirror caps and so on with other bits, contrasted by a Magnus Gray matte exterior color.
Which one should I pick?
If we had to go with one, we’d go for the top. Yes the 2X is slightly more affordable and has more range, but that’s sensible, reasonable thinking which has no business being a factor in the purchase of this glorious monstrosity. Get the top-tier Hummer and be the king crab of your cul-de-sac.
