What should I be paying?
Officially the Omoda 7 starts at under £30k, with the petrol-powered variant set to start at just £29,915 when it arrives later in 2026.
The PHEV isn’t actually that much more though, with the entry-level Knight trim costing £32,000. For that you get all the active safety tech, LED lights, a heated steering wheel and leather trim, dual-zone air conditioning, wireless phone charging, a six-speaker Sony sound system and 19-inch alloy wheels. There’s also an ‘intelligent’ voice assistant (yes, we’re being sarcastic).
What if I want more kit?
For £35,000 you’ll get all of the kit. That brings you up to top-spec Noble trim and adds a twelve-speaker audio system, an electronic tailgate, heated and ventilated seats, the multi-coloured ambient lighting and a giant panoramic roof.
It also takes you up a wheel size to 20in and introduces a funky fragrance system with three different smells that you can change by using the touchscreen. Not to be sniffed at. Actually no, it literally is to be sniffed at.
How much is it per month?
For the £32k plug-in hybrid Knight you’re looking at £319 per month on a four-year deal with just over £4k down as a deposit and an 8,000-mile yearly limit. Step up to Noble trim and you’ll need to put just over £5k down for monthly payments of £349. It’s probably worth the extra cash.
How much do the rivals cost?
Well, top spec Noble trim is probably worth going for on the 7 because it’s still a fair bit cheaper than most of its PHEV rivals. And much better equipped, too.
You can only have the Citroen C5 Aircross as a plug-in hybrid with the top-spec Max trim, and that costs three-and-a-half grand more than the 7. The Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Qashqai are all in a similar ballpark, and the Nissan doesn't even offer plug-in power. The base-spec Tiguan PHEV is almost eight grand more than the Omoda.
In terms of Chinese rivals, the MG HS costs similar money, while the BYD Seal U DM-i is cheaper at just under £35k. The related Jaecoo 7 kicks off just over £35k, while the Chery Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid squeaks under £30k.
