Final thoughts and pick of the range
Pete Barnes owned his Clio 200 for three years.
“I lusted after a Clio 200 RS after watching the Clio Cup racers at Brands Hatch. The flared wheelarches, Recaro seats, Brembo calipers and twin exhausts. In my eyes, it was the closest thing to a racing car for the road which was in my price range.
“I had the ‘full fat’ version with Cup chassis in Albi Blue, which looked great in the day and even better at night where it took on a dark blue/purple hue, which looked fantastic when combined with the matt black 17in Speedline wheels.
“I loved the rev-happy 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine which I would wind up to 7,500rpm before the next gearchange. It put a smile on my face and made even the most mundane journeys exciting.
“It was a simple, raw driving experience and exactly what I expected from a hot hatch. Unfortunately due to wanting to buy a house, I had to sell my Clio – it was hard to part with. It was by far the best car I have ever owned, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a used hot hatch.”
