Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge – long-term review

The most impressive thing so far has been the Volvo’s engine and speed. I wanted to prove how fast it was, so at our recent hot hatch test I asked Ollie Marriage to figure it.

Result? 0–60 in 5.62secs. That’s close to the Megane Trophy R (5.51), Civic Type R (5.55), Tesla Model 3 Std range (5.59) and the latest Golf GTI DSG (5.66). Quite something for a 2.1-tonne SUV. Although, I don't think the result of the same test with the battery emptied would have made for pretty reading. A PHEV is only as quick as claimed for as long as it's got charge - so twenty-smothing miles, at best. Gently does it...
