Top Gear Series 22 (2015)

Clarkson, Hammond and May visit all four corners of the globe, as the trio herd cows in the far reaches of Australia and conduct a half-hearted search and rescue operation in the wilderness of British Columbia. Richard – without needing to be asked twice – takes the opportunity to make a tribute to the Land Rover Defender by driving one up an extremely steep incline, and James and Jeremy pay similar homage to the history of French manufacturer Peugeot, albeit with fewer compliments. The presenters are also tasked with building their own ambulances, while Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Olly Murs feature in the Reasonably Priced Astra.

Patagonia Adventure, part 1

In tribute to the V8, Jeremy, James and Richard travel to South America with a Porsche 928, a Lotus Esprit and a Ford Mustang with the intention of driving 130 miles to the final resting place of the notorious criminal Butch Cassidy. Once there, the presenters are told that they will actually be driving 1,600 miles to Ushuaia – the world’s southernmost city – to play car football against a local Argentinian team. The journey is fraught with mechanical woe as the three cars are forced over unstable bridges, muddy swamps and desert land, with the unthinkable backup car taking the form of the dreaded Citroen 2CV…

Patagonia Adventure, part 2

The journey continues. After losing their bearings in the Patagonian Desert, the presenters decide to head in the direction of Tres Lagos in search of some bolt cutters after coming across a locked fence. Jeremy briefly considers traveling on horseback – a decision which leaves James with three broken ribs – before thinking better of it. The trio eventually progress to El Calafate, where the vehicles are modified and supplies are bought for the impending game of car football. However, it soon becomes apparent that none of the crew members are going to make it to kick-off…

The one with the race across St Petersburg

Jeremy, James and Richard return for the first episode in another brand new series. Several years on from their epic race across London, the presenters conduct another public service experiment by attempting to find the quickest way to commute across a Russian city. Hammond finds himself in the saddle of a bicycle once again, May lines up in a Renault Twizy and Clarkson makes the case for water-based travel by setting sail in a hovercraft. As usual, the Stig is left to negotiate public transport. Elsewhere, Richard takes the new Lamborghini Huracan for a spin out on the test track, while Ed Sheeran gets to grips with the Reasonably Priced Car.

The one with GTs in Australia

The presenters’ worlds are turned upside down by a trip to the other side of the planet, landing in a remote region of Australia in three luxurious GT cars. Jeremy opts for a BMW M6 Gran Coupe, Richard picks a Bentley Continental GT V8 and James elects to make the journey in a Nissan GT-R. The adventure takes the vehicles out of their comfort zone and into the natural habitat of many hungry crocodiles, with detours for a race in an open mine and a spot of extreme cow herding. 24 star Kiefer Sutherland is also strapped into the Reasonably Priced Car for a lap of the track.

The one with the ambulance challenge

Richard, James and Jeremy decide to improve the emergency services by building new versions of the traditional British ambulance. It’s doesn’t go well. With their creations realised, the presenters then undertake a series of challenges to find out which is best. Away from the mayhem, Formula One star Daniel Ricciardo attempts to top the leaderboard in the Reasonably Priced Suzuki Liana, setting ex-teammate Sebastian Vettel and world champion Lewis Hamilton in his sights…

Top Gear gets a rare visit from Hollywood royalty, with Will Smith and Margot Robbie on track in the Reasonably Priced Car. Outside the studio, Jeremy tests the new BMW M4 before hopping into the German manufacturer’s hybrid i8 for a drive along the A1 to Whitby. On arrival in North Yorkshire, he must decide which of the two he’d choose for the return journey. Richard faces a rather different challenge in the form of driving a Land Rover up the near vertical slope of a dam, while James gets behind the wheel of the fiery new Mercedes AMG GT.

Meanwhile, Hammond is in more familiar territory at the Top Gear test track, comparing the Porsche Cayman GTS with the latest Chevrolet Corvette. The one where nobody rescues Hammond

Top Gear’s shortest presenter is dropped in a remote area of North America in order to test a watch with an emergency beacon. Clarkson and May – not being experts in international search and rescue operations – take a rather long time in pursuit of the distress signal, eventually picking up a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and a Chevrolet Silverado Z71 for the final, snowy part of the journey. Jeremy also gets his hands on the new, 471hp Lexus RC F coupe, while The Fall and X-Files star Gillian Anderson has to make do with the Reasonably Priced Vauxhall Astra.
