Video: take a closer look around the wild new Cayman GT4 RS
What would happen if Porsche wedged the 493bhp, high-revving, 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six from the 911 GT3 into the Cayman? Well… this.
With Porsche’s pure electric future beckoning and naturally aspirated petrol engines on the way out, its hardcore GT department thought it would have some fun, producing the most extrovert RS model ever. Of course there’s more downforce, stiffer suspension and weight has been stripped out but it’s the character of this car that separates it from the 911 GT3.
The GT3 harnesses all the tech available to be the fastest and most precise thing around a track, but the GT4 RS is all about noise and emotion and having fun, say Andreas Preuninger, the man behind every GT model. So we caught up with him in Germany to give us a full tour of the car.
