The Swiss company is over 100 years old but was a movement maker before making its own watches from the Fifties. This diver has a 43mm case made from high-tech ceramic, with a steel rotating bezel. Automatic movement with 80-hour power reserve. Water resistant to 300m.
TUDOR RANGER from £2,170
Rolex’s sister brand enjoyed a lot of big hitters in the past few years and now adds another watch to the mix. Ranger has a one size fits all 39mm steel case, and is water resistant to 100m. With steel bracelet, hybrid leather and rubber strap (pictured) or fabric band.

ORIS DIVERS 65 from £2,600
The 65 refers to the year when the Swiss firm started making diving watches. This latest edition has an anti-magnetic automatic movement with five-day power reserve. With 10-year warranty, 40mm steel case and 100m water resistance.

Still mainly a posh pen company, but lots of nice watches too. The automatic movement powers a central seconds and a second time zone is displayed via the red square that moves around the outside of the dial. With 42mm steel case, water resistant to 100m.

As diving watches have soared in popularity, dive specialist Doxa has been cleaning up, releasing all manner of varieties in different colours and materials. Army version with 42.5mm steel case and choice of rubber strap or steel bracelet, 300m water resistance.
