Bunting at the ready, it's the Jaguar F-Type British special

Jag raids the red, white and blue paint supplies for some special edition F-Types

Meet the Jaguar F-Type British Design Edition. It’s a special edition with all manner of little flourishes to swell British pride to the maximum.

Cue your choice of red, white and blue (and, um, black) paint, a ‘Sport Design’ body kit with a smattering of Union Flag-themed badges, larger alloy wheels and some optional bunting. We may have made the last one up.

Inside, there are Union Flags embossed into the headrests, red, white or blue contrast stitching for the leather seats, carbonfibre trim and an upgraded, 380W Meridian stereo. All the better for blasting out Land of Hope and Glory.

The British Design Edition also comes with other handy upgrades in line with the F-Type’s model year update, so the convertible has a bigger boot than before (not difficult) and Jag’s improved ‘InControl’ touchscreen media system enables less stressful prodding on the move (even easier).

And when you’re not on the move, the F-Type will link up to your smart phone or watch to check fuel levels, locate the car or get it warmed up before you clamber in. Perfect for Britain’s typically inclement climate.

If you want a British Design Edition, you’d better be happy with a 375bhp F-Type V6 S with an automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive, as this is the only spec it’s available on. It’s the Jack-of-all-trades in the F-Type range though, so that’s no biggie.

Prices start at £75,225 for a coupe, or £80,390 for a convertible, climbs of about £8,000 over their non-patriotic equivalents, and they’re not a limited run. Deliveries start in the spring. Expect a very polite and orderly queue…
