The brilliant Skoda Felicia Fun pickup has been reimagined for the modern age
Skoda’s yellow bundle of fun gets a modern redesign, but don’t expect it to make production. Boo
“While Skoda’s history is filled with practical cars,” says erm, Skoda itself, “it has also produced a number of cars purely for enjoyment.”
Now, while we would argue that most of those fun-filled Skodas have been confined to rally stages, at least one did slip through the net into series production.
Of course, we’re talking about the brilliantly 90s (and excellently named) Felicia Fun pickup, which arrived in the UK wearing full yellow paint and with rear seats that were completely exposed to the elements.
And now, Skoda designer Julien Petitseigneur has been let loose with the digital crayons to reinvent the Felicia Fun. Sadly this one will remain as a concept, but we’re told that this is “how the Felicia Fun might look today through the lens of Modern Solid”. That’s Skoda’s current design language, if you weren’t already aware.

“The original car was pure fun,” said Petitseigneur.
“It didn’t take itself seriously and stood out, even by Skoda standards. For a light-hearted side project in my spare time, it was an obvious choice. I even got so immersed that I started thinking about buying the original.”
We’re told that, while it almost definitely won’t reach production, Petitseigneur wanted the reimagined Fun truck to be ‘realistic’, so there’s no second row of seats or electrically sliding rear partition a la the original. Shame.
Still, this would be quite a statement to show Skoda’s lighter side, wouldn’t it?
