Vauxhall’s new STX Concept is a 124mph vision of a future estate car

Shaped by aero and a new Vizor, this is what Vauxhall wants to build

Published: 11 Oct 2026

This is the new Vauxhall STX. Clearly, it is not a production vehicle, but it is a preview of stuff that could eventually make its way onto production vehicles.

So, welcome back to the exceedingly strange world of concept cars! As Top Gear’s Sam Philip noted a while back, it’s a weird car industry affectation (‘here’s a cool thing we’ll never build but might pinch the rear lights from, enjoy!’), but we’ll run with it because a) it looks cool, and b) it’s an estate.

Hence why it wears the ‘ST’ badge (Sports Tourer). As you know it also wears Vauxhall’s new griffin logo, an update to the company’s ‘Vizor’ face – it’s now “bolder, taller, and more prominent” – and boasts many angles and sharp creases.

So many creases, you’ll yearn for an iron. The roofline gently slopes back, features a small pair of indents on the rear quarters, there are short overhangs and a taut shape, flared arches, and “three section” wheels that doff their alloys caps to the ones on the old Nova and Corsa.

There’s some active aero dotted around the body, and while we’ve not been shown any images (yet) of the inside, we’re assured it will feature lightweight seats, “immersive lighting elements” and an ‘experience’ first seen in the mad Corsa Vision GT thing.

Oh, yeah, the ‘124mph’ bit. It’ll apparently do 124mph. Via… electricity. How much electricity we do not yet know, but allow us to refer you back to paragraph 1 (it’s a concept).

“The STX Concept previews the future development of the estate body style and introduces design elements that will appear on future Vauxhall models,” it said. Once more, which ones and where, we do not yet know.

We do know that despite closing its historic Luton plant last year – ending more than 120 years of carmaking in the town – Vauxhall recently reported an uptick in sales versus last year. To date, it’s shifted 91,105 cars and vans, compared to 87,610 at this point in 2025 – a seven per cent increase.

Naturally the STX won’t ever be made – because concept cars! – but would you be tempted into a Vauxhall if it looked something like this?
