Video: this touring car pile-up is the biggest crash you’ll see today
Watch many cars get smashy at the TCR International Macau GP
Rubbin’s racin’, as they say in the world of motorsport. If that’s the case, prepare to witness an awful lot of racing.
The above clip comes from the start of Race 2 of TCR International’s Macau Grand Prix, and features enough panel-smashing to guarantee a busy festive period for bodywork repair shops worldwide.
It all starts when Rob Huff’s Honda Civic gets squeezed out by Jordi Gene’s Seat on the run into the first corner. Huff clips the wall and then… crashing occurs. A lot of crashing.
With all but a handful of cars involved in the pile-up, the race was halted for the mess to be cleaned up. When proceedings eventually restarted, Swiss racer Stefano Comini took the chequered flag, and the 2015 TCR title.
Gene sustained a broken rib in the crash, but the rest of the drivers escaped unharmed. Huff, however, wasn’t too impressed with his fellow racer’s manners.
"I feel that there’s a corner there, you’ve got to turn at some point, and he didn’t seem to want to turn it,” said Huff after the race.
Gene was fined €1,000 for his part in the incident. We suspect the cost of repairs may have been rather greater.
