Meet the UK's cheapest new electric SUV: the new Seres 3, yours for just under £30k
Chinese electric car is ready to challenge pricier European EVs, possibly at a stockist near you
Be still thine beating hearts: the Seres 3 is coming to the UK! The car you've all been waiting for- what's that, you don't know what a 'Seres 3' is? Why, it's yet another new Chinese electric car, here making its debut as the cheapest electric SUV on sale in the UK, undercutting the MG ZS. Yep, we're treading exciting waters here.
It's roughly the same size as a Nissan Qashqai, and prices will start from £29,995 – £500 cheaper than that MG.
It'll have an official range of 205 miles from a 54kWh battery and 120kW electric motor, and IA Electric Vehicles - the designated UK importer - says the 3’s battery will be capable of charging from 20-80 per cent in only half an hour. Oh, it's got a 0-62mph time too: less than nine seconds.
What else does the Seres 3 bring to the EV game? Well, a Ford Kuga-esque design, with 18in alloys and LED lights front and back. The cabin is clad in fake cow and features real buttons - yay! – along with lots of electronic safety gear and a good level of standard kit. That includes keyless entry, a reversing camera, air-con and a 10.25in touchscreen on the entry-level trim, Active.
Splurge £31,995 on the Spirit trim and you can add a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats and wireless mobile charging to that list.
