
The VW ID.4 is officially on sale
ID.3’s big bro goes on sale with 310-mile range for £37,800
The second model in VW’s ‘ID’ line-up of EVs has arrived – the ID.4 SUV is now officially on sale in Britain, with a starting price of £37,800 after the Government grant for the (almost) fully-loaded ‘First Edition’. The first cars arrive in the UK in March.
The First Edition has a 77kWh battery for a claimed 310-mile range and can charge at a maximum rate of 125kW. That means if you find a powerful-enough charger the ID.4 can take-on almost 200 miles worth of juice in just 30 minutes. 0-62mph takes 8.5 seconds and the top speed is 99mph thanks to a single, rear-mounted e-motor making 201bhp.
Normal ID.4s arrive later in the year – they’ll be offered with different-sized batteries and twin-motors for all-wheel drive. It’s based on the same ‘MEB’ platform as the ID.3 and, in time, will be built in no fewer than five factories across three continents. A sign VW is clearly expecting this thing to sell pretty well.
All First Editions get special badges and lots of kit, including 20-inch alloys, ‘microfleece’ upholstery, the biggest, cleverest infotainment system and lots of active safety technology.
