Dacia’s Spring ‘Cargo’ van is like a superleggera city EV for under £15k
Dacia bins the rear seats and adds some mesh, and now we want to track it
Dacia has made a ‘superleggera’ version of its super-cheap city EV for a whisker under £15k. This is the new Dacia Spring ‘Cargo’, and yes, it’s a van.
A van with no back seats. A mesh bulkhead. One powertrain option. White paint. Steel wheels and some parking sensors. Think of it as a stripped-out little workhorse.
Dacia says the Spring Cargo is the UK’s most affordable compact electric van – £14,995 with the plug-in van grant, £149 per month excluding VAT on a business contract hire plan – offering 1,085 litres of load space. Binning the rear bench will do that.
There’s also a claimed 370kg payload, a turning circle of 4.8m, and all the other things the People Version of the Dacia Spring comes with. So there’s a 26.8kWh battery, powering a 65bhp electric motor and offering up to 186 miles of range. Dacia reckons it’ll fast charge from 20 to 80 per cent in just 45 minutes.
Elsewhere you get... central locking! Electric front windows! Air conditioning! A USB port! Cruise control!
It’ll also come with bi-directional charging too, handy for powering up any work tools you might have. Anyone else up for a ‘One Make Rather Cute Electric Van Championship’?
