GTI Clubsport special is the most powerful VW Golf ever
VW’s Wörthersee festival will see a 306bhp, Nürburgring-honed FWD hatch unveiled
Volkswagen has made a harder cored version of the Golf GTI Clubsport.
It will be unveiled next week, at the annual ‘Worthersee Meet’ in Austria, which celebrates fast VW culture. It’s become a rich seam for bonkers concepts and production car unveils from across the VW Group hot hatch spectrum.

VW has also said the Clubsport special edition has “a driving profile set up for the Nürburgring”, while describing it as “one of the fastest front-wheel drive cars of our time”.
Rather makes us wonder if they intend to prove it around the Nordschleife, against the FWD lap time benchmarks, the Honda Civic Type-R and Renault Megane 275 Trophy R…
