This Merc AMG GT3 has an epic livery for the Spa 24 Hours

Band members of rock band Linkin Park helped create the bold design

Published: 07 Jul 2016

It’s not every day that a group of musicians get the chance to design a racecar. Alas, today is one of those days.

Two months on from Mercedes-AMG’s 1-2-3-4 finish at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, rock band Linkin Park have been given the opportunity to design the livery of the GT3 that will be run by AMG-Team Black Falcon at the upcoming 24-hour race at Spa.

We doubt the Californian sextet were completely unaided when they came up with the livery, but whatever the arrangement, we reckon they’ve produced a real winner of a paintjob.

Sporting the band’s name on the spoiler, the car features red and black highlights on a largely silver base, with the odd lightning bolt thrown in for effect. Because why the hell not?

“Even though there probably is no way to top the result from the Nürburgring 24-hour race, we will do our utmost to put in a maximum performance again at Spa and to challenge for victory,” said Maro Engel, who will pilot the #00 alongside teammates Yelmer Buurman and Bernd Schneider. “It certainly will be anything but a walk in the park, because the world’s strongest teams and the best GT3 drivers will be on the grid at Spa.”

This latest unveiling caps off a good few weeks for Mercedes-AMG, whose new GT R got everyone’s attention at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a fortnight ago with its striking, green exterior with performance to match.
