This is the new Karma Ivara: a four-seat multipurpose grand tourer on stilts

It’s also rumoured to launch in 2027 with a choice of plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains

Published: 22 Aug 2024

Karma has revealed its latest creation, and it's called the ‘Ivara’. The Ivara is a four-door, all-wheel-drive, ‘multi-terrain’ grand tourer which previews its future ‘Comet Line’ design language.

Should the Ivara make production, it’s also expected to be offered initially as a plug-in hybrid upon launch in 2027, before an all-electric alternative shows up further down the line. No word on exact outputs just yet, but it wouldn’t be crazy to suggest the Ivara would hover close to, if not higher than the 590bhp and 250-mile range output of the sporty Gyesera coupe.

Looks like it draws slight design parallels with the Ferrari Purosangue, no? Not only from the body proportions and layout, with the cabin pushed right back to the rear half of the car so the long, caved in bonnet can reside, but also from the smaller cues. Take those headlights for instance: notice how it’s a twin-pronged design with a gap in between? Where have we seen that before…

Though there are some unique touches we can appreciate, including the huge hurricane alloys and the equally large vent openings behind the front wheel arch and beneath the rear bumper. There’s also no front grille, which is unusual for a car these days. The black/bronze colourway is a bit… marmite though.

Anyway, the Ivara would join the likes of the Gyesera and the 1,000bhp Kaveya hypercar in giving Karma another shot at success. Reckon the initial signs are positive?
