The latest Gran Turismo 7 update adds a wicked time attack Honda Civic

Pandem bodykitted Civic is joined by the new FL5 Type R and a bio-diesel Mazda 3 race car

Published: 02 Oct 2023

The latest Gran Turismo 7 update (patch 1.38) has arrived, and there are three new cars that have piqued our interest.

First up is the new FL5 Honda Civic Type R, which won our very prestigious Car of the Year award in 2022 and has finally arrived in virtual form. There’s another Civic too – a fantastic looking Garage RCR time attack creation that won the Gran Turismo Award at SEMA in 2017.

The modified fifth gen Civic wears a Pandem widebody kit with a giant rear spoiler and a completely stripped interior with just a single bucket seat remaining. There’s a J Racing carbon fibre bonnet too, and the original engine has been swapped for a turbocharged K24 four-cylinder. Power is up to 389bhp and is sent to the front wheels through a Quaife five-speed sequential gearbox. Should be fun.

Last but not least in this update is a Mazda 3 Gr.4 race car that’s known as the ‘Bio Concept’ in the real world. Competing in Super Taikyu’s alternative fuel ST-Q class, it uses a race-prepped version of Mazda’s 2.2-litre SkyActiv-D engine and runs on biodiesel made from used cooking oil.
