Weird car-videogame collab of the week: a Zenless Zone Zero Aston Martin

“That does it, I’m buying one” – someone somewhere, presumably

Published: 19 Aug 2025

Have you ever seen an advertisement? They’re those things that tell you why you should buy something. Keep an eye out for one, you’ll see them around. While you do that, here’s an Aston Martin Vantage coupe featuring a custom wrap inspired by Zenless Zone Zero.

Got you! In fact, this very car you’re looking at is an advertisement! Don’t feel bad if you missed it – it’s simply impossible to understand how this brand collab came into being, but nonetheless we are now forced to confront the reality that it has.

Zenless Zone Zero is an anime-styled action RPG, part of the ‘HoYoVerse’, aka one of several games developed by Chinese studio MiHoYo, whose shift key appears to be intermittently sticking.

It’s not clear what a game about a ragtag band of adventurers exploring multiple dimensions and battling ethereal forces of evil has to do with the British prestige motoring brand. To fixate on the specific mechanics of this collab is to stare into the eye of madness itself. All you can do is simply accept that there’s a Vantage coupe wearing a custom wrap painted by the game developers themselves sitting in a booth on the Gamescom showfloor this week. And then buy, or don’t buy, an Aston Martin Vantage and/or a copy of Zenless Zone Zero, accordingly.

OK since you’re twisting our arm quite forcefully and making us guess, we’d say it probably has something to do with the Chinese consumer market, which is quite fond of both the game and the aforementioned prestige motoring brand.

And so begins our sweepstakes on the next unlikely brand collab. Ferrari x Cathedral City? A Rolawn pop-up booth in Citroen garages across the country? Answers on a postcard, mailed to any nearby bin.
