Is the Louis Vuitton-inspired Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer a hit, or a miss?
Have your say on Singer's most recent project. But first, allow us to have ours...
Jason Barlow: “the two in bed is a sign of the times if ever there was one”
I can remember the first time I met Rob Dickinson.
It was in Singer’s low-rent workshop somewhere in downtown LA, and it was immediately clear Rob’s vision for a reimagined Porsche 911 was unassailable.
Now here we are 15 years later, and the OG restomodder is in bed with Louis Vuitton, a sign of the times if ever there was one. Because Singer is the apogee of high-end automotive bespokery, and nothing screams success louder than monogrammed Louis Vuitton luggage, surfboard or detachable clock.
True, Singer is inching perilously close to jumping the luxury shark, but for now... what a journey these guys are on.
Vijay Pattni: “this Singer is an actual diamond, it doesn’t need embellishing”
Cars can be intensely personal, more so when you venture into the world of million-dollar restomods. Here, the story behind the machine takes on greater significance; the narrative embellishes the diamond. And yes, I am now talking like a high-end press release.
However. Underneath the metric tonne of LV frippery, this Singer is an actual diamond. It doesn’t need embellishing. The story of Singer’s craftmanship is the narrative.
What we’re saying is, you don’t need to turn your gorgeous, ultra-rare exotic into a flat six-engined handbag to stand out from all the other Singers. Guys! There aren’t that many! Just owning a Singer makes you stand out!
