This Bulletproof BMW Z4 isn't bulletproof, but is deranged
Bulletproof Automotive mark 15 years of tuning with an off-the-chain BMW Z4 speedster
This, boys and girls, is a Bulletproof BMW Z4.
The keen eyed - and probably just the eyed - among you will realise it’s not actually bulletproof, given its lack of roof and windows. Instead, it’s the work of tuning company Bulletproof Automotive. And it is quite mad.
In its standard form, the BMW Z4 is a solid but quite sensible sports car. Bulletproof has flipped this on its head, its Z4 GT Continuum displaying styling cues inspired by Japan’s thriving but bonkers tuning scene.
There’s an exceedingly wide body kit, then, with dive planes and air vents aplenty. The wheel arches are considerably more bulbous, with a gaggle of exhaust pipes protruding from the front passenger side, looking willing and able to blacken the door on request.
This isn’t the Continuum at its most deranged, though. And nor, unbelievably, is the complete lack of roof, or the tiny aero screen in place of a full-size windscreen.
Nope. Top honours go to the rear end, with its voluptuous humps, violently aggressive diffuser and a rear wing that looks to have fallen straight out the back of a GT3 racer’s supply lorry.
It’s the utterly nuts project to mark the 15th anniversary of Bulletproof Automotive, and it appeared at last month’s SEMA show. It’s testament to the crackers nature of everything else present that it’s only just come to our attention now.
Simple question, dear readers: love it or hate it?
