This father and son’s custom BMW 3 Series has won the Hot Wheels Legends Tour UK
1982 E21 will now head to the European final for the chance to be immortalised as a 1:64 diecast model
A father and son’s custom 1982 E21 BMW 3 Series has taken the top gong at this year’s Hot Wheels Legends Tour UK, and will now head to the European final for the chance to compete at the Global Grand Finale.
The overall prize? Immortalisation as a 1:64 Hot Wheels diecast model sold globally. It’s what dreams are made of…
Claiming victory over more than 200 entrants to win the UK prize, Essex-based father and son Paul and Ethan Foster’s custom E21 is the result of a 14-year build, with the iconic violet, red and blue livery a nod to BMW’s 80s and 90s touring cars.
You’ll note the front splitter. Fibreglass wide-arch kit. Those 345/35/15 rear tyres. Flame-spitting side pipes. Alloy diffuser. That original Group 5 rear wing, now complete with carbon blade. What you might not have spotted are the DTM Getrag gearbox and Quaife LSD, GAZ coilovers, plus uprated Wilwood brakes.
Oh, and under the bonnet sits a 420bhp 5.0-litre Rover V8 with twin Jenvey throttle bodies. And it still weighs in at 900kg. Yeah, this thing is pretty special.
“It’s amazing to win the Hot Wheels Legends Tour UK. Built together with my son Ethan, it’s part of our family and we’ll never sell it. We’ve both been huge Hot Wheels fans since we were kids. I just can’t believe it,” said Paul.
“Representing the UK at the next round of the competition is so exciting. Thank you to everyone for the support.”
Stay tuned to see how they get on…
