This Honda S2000 gets a supercharged 580bhp four-pot that revs to 9,300rpm

A storied tuner of Japanese performance cars has revealed a tuned Japanese performance car for this year’s SEMA show. Welcome to Bulletproof Automotive’s ‘BP25’: a modded Honda S2000 with many horsepowers accessible at many revolutions.

Specifically, 580 horsepowers “at a heart thumping 9,300rpm”, according to its makers. Indeed, despite whacking a great blower onto that unbreakable 2.0-litre Honda four-pot, BA were adamant on keeping “the original characteristics of the S2000 driving experience”.

So, that means being able to absolutely thrash that engine to hell and back, repeatedly and reliably. BA – based in LA – has done much to the motor. There’s a new ECU, aforementioned supercharger, an intercooler, new injectors, lots of new pumps, and a titanium exhaust among other bits and bobs.

There’s a new flywheel, clutch and short shifter for the gearbox, beefier six pot/four pot brakes front and back, a coilover kit, new control arms and braces, and of course, lots of new body parts.

Like a widebody kit, a new carbon fibre bonnet, a lightweight boot, a hardtop roof, new front glass, new carbon mirrors, a carbon fibre wing, some red badges and a custom paintjob called ‘Lamborghini Baloon White’.

“The S2000 is timeless, and for our 25th anniversary, we had to go back to the source,” said BA founder Ben Schaffer. “We took that core high-revving, analogue purity and amplified it with 580 supercharged horsepower and the finest modern tech.”

Quite a story… filled with many horsepowers accessible at many revolutions.
