Turn your regular 911 Carrera into a GT3 heckler with this TechArt upgrade
Made for Porsche’s 992.2 generation, you’ll get over 100bhp extra and a ducktail wing
Build slots for the 992.2-generation GT3 are as hard to come by as trophies for Arsenal these days. Solution? Order a boggo-spec Carrera and take it to Porsche tuning specialist TechArt, which has just devised a new upgrade package that’ll add more aero, drama and horsepower, the latter thanks to its Techtronic powerkit.
108 more horsies to be specific, which boosts its 3.0-litre flat-six from 389bhp to 497bhp - just six short of the 4.0-litre GT3. Significantly, the package gives the Carrera 74lb ft more torque than its harder sibling, and while no 0-62mph time is quoted, we’re expecting the Carrera’s original 4.1s to pull closer to the GT3’s 3.4s.
What’s more, TechArt says the package isn’t limited solely to the entry-level Carrera either: the ‘S’ and the ‘GTS’ can get in on the act too, and will see similar output increases. Considering the hybridised GTS already shells out a healthy 535bhp, TechArt’s work could end up pushing it north of 640. Blimey.
The images provided seem to be based on the GTS, the giveaway being those opening front bumper flaps. TechArt has added a redesigned lower lip to channel more air into those gaps, with the body kit flowing right around the base of the car. This lot will be made from either carbon or fibreglass.
There’s a few snorkels woven into the lower side of the bonnet, which gains a lick of black paint that runs across to the roofline. The rear diffuser gets some extra chevrons for improved downforce, and encompasses bigger aftermarket sports exhausts that are positioned closer together than stock. Oh, and don’t you just love a ducktail?
Pricing has yet to be disclosed, but TechArt says most of these parts can be ordered now, with the full package available in due course. So… this or a GT3?
