Woohoo! Hoonigan’s built a radio-controlled Hoonicorn V2
For $395, you can channel your inner Block and fry Hoonigan’s smallest wheels
The Hoonicorn V2 is a 6.7-litre twin-turbo money-spinner for tyre manufacturers around the globe. Ken Block’s hilariously overpowered rear-drive stunt machine remains one of his finest ever creations: a 1,400bhp modified classic.
This… is not a 1,400bhp modified classic. This is a tiny, battery-powered 1/10th scale radio-controlled Hoonicorn V2, and it’s the closest any of us will actually get to ever piloting Block’s sub-zero Mustang.
A company called Team Associated is responsible for the build, which includes a fully printed and liveried body, a ‘fully assembled chassis with electronics’, and a radio transmitter and receiver.
There’s a three-pole brushed electric motor, actual injection moulded calipers and discs, a two-channel radio system, sealed diffs, ball bearings, an aluminium motor plate, bolt-on steering plates, one-piece tie rods and steering links, shock towers and even adjustable body post height locations.
What you don’t get for your $395 outlay is any form of power. Indeed, Hoonigan advises either a 7.4V or 11.1V unit, a battery charger and 4 AA batteries.
“Built on an all-new 4WD Apex2 chassis, the new Team Associated Hoonigan Hoonicorn is a tyre-slaying beast,” explains Hoonigan, rather enthusiastically.
