Ken Block’s family is going rallying in the US this season
Ken will compete against his wife Lucy and his 15-year-old daughter Lia for the first time
It would seem that Ken Block is not the only hotshoe in his family, as this season he’s competing against his wife Lucy and his 15-year-old daughter Lia in the American Rally Association Championship.
Ken, Lucy and Lia are all driving for the Hoonigan Racing Division team (of course), with Ken in a 2019 Hyundai i20 WRC car that’s being prepared by French rally team 2C Compétition. Lucy is apparently making the step up to AWD rally for the first time – driving a new M-Sport built Fiesta Rally3.
Lia on the other hand is in the open two-wheel drive class driving a Fiesta R2T, having only competed in one rally before the 2022 season. As you’d expect, she does have a fair bit of experience, though. Despite her age Lia has already competed in wheel-to-wheel UTV racing, kart racing and she even scored a podium in a Nitro Rallycross Championship race. Oh, and she drove her dad’s 1,400bhp AWD Mustang (the brilliantly-named Hoonicorn) for a full series of YouTube races. Not a bad CV already.
At their first race weekend of the season – the ‘Rally in the 100 Acre Wood’ in Salem – Ken finished second overall, with Lia 21st overall and fifth in her class.
Have we got a new racing dynasty on our hands?
