Pic of the day: BMW’s grille-gate on track
Last weekend’s IMSA race at Laguna Seca threw up a great shot of BMW’s large faces
We thought we’d digested the BMW grille controversy by now. We thought we’d got used to the faces and the *ahem* lack of subtlety. But then we saw this picture from the IMSA Motul Course de Monterey race at Laguna Seca this weekend.
Not pretty, is it? The M4 GT3 and M Hybrid V8 take opposite approaches to the height and width of their nostrils, but neither will enter the motorsport history books based on looks alone.
Thankfully the M Hybrid V8 will make its way into the burgeoning Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2024, having spent its debut season solely competing in the US. If it sees success then we may be able to forgive that face, but right now we’re struggling. Thoughts, folks?
