Video: ride onboard this incredible Nürburgring lap
Laurens Vanthoor’s N24 qualifying run will leave you wondering if he’s superhuman
You may be familiar with Nürburgring lap videos. Whether it’s people falling off the 12.9-mile ribbon of scary, graffiti’d tarmac, or simply pounding round setting blistering production car records, there’s a weird magnetic attraction to Nürburgring on boards.
So, if you're a fan, sit back and prepare for eight and a bit minutes of madness as you witness Laurens Vanthoor’s crazy qualifying lap from last weekend’s N24.
Piloting the No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R, Manthey Racing driver Laurens Vanthoor set a new pole-winning lap record for the Nürburgring 24 Hours with a time of 8:09.105 – the first time it's dipped under 8:10 during quali. And that’s not on the 12.9-mile circuit. For the endurance race, both the GP circuit and Nordschleife are stitched together to make a 15.99-mile mega circuit.
But just look at his commitment. The man is on it. Properly on it. The Belgian’s time was enough to beat Sven Muller’s #44 Falken Motorsports Porsche by 0.417 seconds and grab pole.
Now try this for yourself on Forza and let us know how you get on.
