Is Gordon Murray’s motorsport-inspired Le Mans GTR a hit or a miss? Have your say

GMA’s ‘Special Vehicles’ unit pays homage to longtail racers - but does the Le Mans GTR lack motorsport pedigree?

Jack Rix: “The ingredients here are still Michelin star quality”

Yes, the Le Mans GTR played second fiddle to the ridiculously cool S1 LM at Gordon Murray’s double reveal at Monterey Car Week.

However, we must remember the ingredients here are still Michelin-star quality – three seats and the T.50’s powertrain, but wider tyres, more downforce, firmer suspension, a solid mounted engine. If the T.50 is the 911 GT3, this is the GT3 RS. And judging by the diameter of those double pipes, it will sound beyond glorious.

No wonder Joe Macari flogged them all in a flash.

Ollie Kew: “The car hasn’t earned those Le Mans winning laurels”

As far as I’m concerned, Gordon Murray is God. I’m in the minority that loves the T.50’s looks. But the Le Mans GTR has the same issue as the Ferrari 599 GTO (omologato)... or the Fiat Stilo Schumacher.

Though its brand has earned those laurels, the car itself hasn’t. This isn’t a road going Le Mans winner. It’s a part McLaren Senna, part Ford GT-alike rebody. And for that reason alone, I regret to announce I will not be buying one.

I’d sooner have a 500 year finance agreement on a T.33.
