Queen Elizabeth II's old 16k-mile Daimler Majestic is currently up for sale

The rebadged Jaguar XJ sports a gorgeous British Racing Green exterior and cream leather interior, and could be yours for around £35,000

The late Queen Elizabeth II had an admirable passion for automobiles. Yep, most will be familiar with her quite brilliant car history, including a third-generation Range Rover and Barnato Green Bentley Mulsanne.

And now we get the opportunity to stretch that list further because her 2001 Daimler Majestic long-wheelbase is currently under the hammer at Bonhams. Reading just 16,200 on the clock and sitting at a bid of just over £30,000 at the time of writing, the British Racing Green exterior and cream leather interior alone are strong selling points for this rebadged Jaguar XJ.

You’re also treated to a few of Her Majesty’s personal optional extras, including convoy lighting and a handbag tray positioned along the centre console. She also opted for a wooden finish on the folding picnic tables and green stitching along the upholstery to match the equally green floor mats.

Powering this vintage luxury barge is a 4.0-litre V8 and five-speed automatic transmission coupling, whose 280bhp can waft you to 60mph in around seven seconds and on to a vmax of 149mph. Numbers obviously entirely irrelevant since they completely defeat the purpose of a car like this.

We should instead discuss the optimal speed for sitting in the rear passenger seats and dipping your biscuits in tea without any spillage, right? Our best guess would be around 10mph… right through the heart of London towards The Mall. At dusk. Perfect.

Could you be the winning bidder for this royally approved symphony of comfort?
