Video: LaFerrari, F40, F50 and Enzo

Published: 06 May 2015

If you’ve never heard of Dario Benuzzi, shame on you.

Benuzzi is Maranello’s most legendary test driver, the man who, since 1971, has made Ferraris feel like, well… like Ferraris. The man who’s thrashed everything from the 288 GTO to the FXXK. The man who epitomises timeless Italian cool from behind a pair of perma-fixed sunglasses.

If you need to know more, have a read of our in-depth interview with the man himself from a couple of years back.

And then come straight back here and watch this rather lovely little video, in which – as a quick thank-you to its longest serving test driver – Ferrari let Dario loose around Fiorano in its four most extreme road cars of the modern era. Four cars, of course, that he helped sculpt into the legends they became.

Count ‘em: F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari. Four generations of genuine hypercar royalty, all slathered in Rosso Corsa red, together on track. A bucket-list sort of gig, but one we can’t begrudge Dario, who, let’s be honest, has earned it.

Of course, Benuzzi is far too even-handed to pick his favourite of the four, seeming to enjoy each of the quartet equally. For our part, we can’t help but be drawn to the F40, which barely seems to have aged a day in its 28 years.

As Dario says: “It gives you the chills and transmits emotions.” Then again, the same could be said for the F40's hypercar offspring, too…

So go on then: if you could take just one of the four home, which would it be?
