Watch the Chevrolet Camaro become a Nürburgring hero

Here’s something refreshing: a Nürburgring lap video not claiming a record that’ll tear the internet forums to shreds.

It’s a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, and it has lapped the Nordschleife in 7m16.04s. That does make it the fastest Camaro to lap the ‘Ring, but it claims nothing that’s likely to be contentious. Phew.

For some context, though, that places this 650bhp, rear-driven muscle car in some fine company. It’s 1.4sec slower than the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition, but nearly 2.0sec quicker than the old Porsche 911 GT2 RS. We imagine the new GT2 RS will have something to say about that. The 1LE is over 13sec quicker than the standard ZL1 Chevy took round the ‘Ring last year.
