A Chinese carmaker has patented an in-car toilet. Wait, what?
Seres Auto has designed a bog that slides out from under your car seat
We’ve checked the calendar, and April Fools’ Day has definitely been and gone. And that’s slightly worrying, because we’ve just discovered that Chinese carmaker Seres has been granted a patent for an in-car toilet.
Yep, its application for an in-car khazi was actually filed all the way back in April 2025, but it was eventually authorised on 10 April this year. We really hope its designers used that year to come up with clever names for the system. Auto Potty? Drive’n’dump? If this was a Porsche creation, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was inexplicably christened the Travel Turd Turbo.
Anyway, we’re told the patented setup includes a sliding toilet body that extends out from under the driver’s seat. But here’s the best bit… you can reveal the dunny using the car’s voice control system. Good grief!
The little loo then slides back under the seat once you’ve finished your business, and we’re told there’s a heater to dry up waste, plus a fan and exhaust system to release the smells. Don’t go tailgating an Aito 9 any time soon, is all we’ll say.
“Intelligence redefining luxury” is the Seres motto, but is a mobile potty in your car a vision of luxury, or is it just total crap?
