New TG mag out now: full throttle in the Ford GT

We reveal the secrets of 2017's hottest supercar, plus much more

The January 2017 issue of Top Gear magazine is out now, and we launch full throttle into the new year with one of the most anticipated supercars in a long time, the new Ford GT. Fourteen months from sketch to showcar, 600+bhp, 200+mph, and it’s already won Le Mans. It’s a very exciting start to the New Year…

Of course, Ford does high performance well, but everyday practical use even better, and with 17 million Fiestas (and counting…) sold, it is the UK’s most popular car. We take the latest generation of Fiesta to meet its 1976 MkI ancestor to find out why it’s still capturing the nation’s hearts.

In this month’s main group test, three small SUVs do battle: it’s Audi Q2 vs Toyota C-HR vs Mazda CX-3. We also test the Lexus LC500 and its hybrid brother, the LC500h, see if we can cover 1,400 miles with two tanks of fuel in the 429bhp Bentley Bentayga, and drive the new Land Rover Discovery.

We take the Jaguar F-Type to Lake Coniston, the site of Donald Campbell’s tragic water-speed record attempt in 1967, to see how his legacy lives on. And there’s a farewell to do: we send Eddie Jordan to interview Jenson Button on the eve of his last race.

In other news, we check out Fiorano’s fastest Ferraris, have our minds blown by engineering whizz Bisi Ezerioha, and go on the ultimate beer run: a 28-hour challenge between Atlanta and Texas in a 717bhp Trans Am – Smokey and the Bandit style.

Plus we drive all the new cars that matter – including the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, Nissan Micra, Lotus Exige Sport 380, Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain, Suzuki Ignis, Renault Twingo GT, BMW 5-Series, Audi TT RS vs BMW M2 and many more…
