Stop what you're doing and watch the Yangwang U9 Xtreme hit 308mph
Including Marc Basseng removing both hands off the wheel at... 218mph to celebrate
By now you’ll probably be up to... speed with the Yangwang U9 Xtreme officially becoming the fastest production car in the world, having hit 308.4mph at ATP Papenburg’s high speed oval last week. If not… get out of thine underground apocalypse bunkers and join in the fun.
Now, Yangwang has released the onboard footage from that record-breaking run, and it’s every bit as jaw-dropping as you’d expect.
What it doesn’t show is the prayers German race driver Marc Basseng said beforehand. What it does show is him rapidly accelerating, exiting the 49.7 degree banking at over 300kph (186mph), before he floors it down the main straight.
Oh, and then celebrating wildly, including removing both hands off the wheel at 350kmh (218mph). Well done that man.
