Buying

What should I be paying?

At the time of testing, UK prices and equipment hadn't been released, but clearly it sits under the EV3 (hatch shaped) and EV4.

That puts prices in the £25-£30k range depending on spec. Assuming the EV2 Long Range gets the full UK grant of £3,750, there won't be much price difference between the Standard Range (195 miles WLTP) and Long Range (283 miles on standard wheels) versions of the EV2, because the Long Range is built in Europe and therefore deemed more eco-friendly. The Standard Range battery isn't.

So you have two specs and two battery sizes. The basic, Air, is shown in the photos. It's pretty fully equipped. The navigation is connected, so it can do EV routing and control the adaptive driver-assist speed through bends. Seats are heated. Wheels are 18s, air-con is dual-zone, phone mirroring is wireless.

Kia doesn't quote net battery sizes (that is, that capacity you can actually use) but only gross. Assume the 42.2kWh pack gives around 39kWh usable, and the 61kWh around 58kWh.

But what matters is efficiency, and as we noted earlier, it's good. In the longer-range version you'll likely get 200 motorway miles and around 230 mixed. But note there's no heat pump, so winter fall-off is possible.

The GT-Line trim is mostly cosmetics, with fake leather seats, a body kit, and (as yet unconfirmed) an electric driver's seat.

Kia's seven-year 100,000-mile warranty applies to the whole car, but the battery goes to eight years for 70 per cent state of health.
